ANN HAMPTON CALLAWA Y
ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY is one of the most widely acclaimed singer/ songwriters working in pop/jazz today. The award-winning artist has received national attention from television audiences for her song "The Nanny Named Fran" which she wrote and performs for the CBS television comedy hit "THE NANNY." Another of Ann's compositions, �AT THE SAME TIME� was recently performed by Barbra Streisand for President Clinton in Los Angeles and was recorded for Streisand's current CD, "Higher Ground" which debuted nationally at #1. Barbra Streisand recently asked Ann to write lyrics to a Rolf Lovland melody, which she entitled "I've Dreamed Of You" and was sung by Barbra Streisand to James Brolin at their recent wedding, and was recorded for her new CD "Barbra In Love."
Ann's recent CD recordings include, "AFTER OURS" on Denon Records with world-
Renowned jazz pianist Kenny Barron and bassist Jay Leonhart and also "TO ELLA WITH
LOVE" on Touchwood Records, which was recorded with jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Christian McBride and Lewis Nash as a tribute to jazz legend ELLA FITZGERALD featuring some of her best loved standards. Ann performed selections from the CD at the CARNEGIE HALL TRIBUTE TO ELLA FITZGERALD.
She also released a holiday CD entitled "THIS CHRISTMAS" on Angel.Records
which featu#006F8E a new song written by Johnny Mandel and Alan and Marilyn Bergman and a
duet with Kenny Rankin. Ann's other CD recordings are BRING BACK ROMANCE (DRG)
and ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY (DRG), SIBLING REVELRY with her sister, Broadway
musical star LIZ CALLAWA Y. The Cole Porter Estate officially recognizes Ann Hampton Callaway as the only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter having set her music to his posthumously discove#006F8E lyric, "I GAZE IN YOUR EYES" recorded for the Ben Bagley "Cole Porter Revisited" series.
Ann has performed to standing ovations in major venues, concert halls and jazz
festivals around the world. She performed a nationally televised show at Moscow's Estrada Theatre and was invited to sing for former President Gorbachev at the Youth Peace Summit. Ann also performed in Washington D.C. for President Clinton. Her performances have been heard on numerous national television shows such as The Today Show, CNN, The Charlie Rose Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Charles Grodin, ABC News, PBS and BBC.
She performed with her sister Liz Callaway their original musical "SIBLING
REVELRY" at London's Donmar Warehouse, and then resumed her solo performances
headlining at Harrah's in Atlantic City in September and a sold-out run in New York in
November and then on to Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, Denver, Seattle and Paris in
1999.
She has just completed recording a second CD for Touchwood Records entitled "Easy
Living" featuring pianists Kenny Barron, Benny Green and Bill Charlap with guest artists
Wynton Marsalis and Nelson Rangel for a June 1999 release. Ann recently appea#006F8E in New
York with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and at Carnegie Hall with
Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops and will be featu#006F8E guest artist with numerous
symphony orchestras, including the Boston Pops which will be nationally televised this July.
This fall Ann will star in a new Broadway musical entitled "SWING."
Ann was born and raised in Chicago. Her father is John Callaway, a former CBS News
correspondent and current host of the PBS show "Chicago Tonight." Her mother, Shirley
Callaway, is a prominent Broadway vocal coach. Ann resides in New York.
