Kimmel Center With POPS at the HOP!
02/03/2005Rock .n. roll is here to stay! Peter Nero and the Philly Pops will rock The Kimmel Center with the fabulous sounds of the 50.s when they perform POPS at the HOP! And joining Peter and The Pops for this very special concert is the rock nostalgia group SHA NA NA.
Performances begin Wednesday, March 2 at 8 pm and continue Friday, March 4 at 8 pm; Saturday, March 5 at 2 pm and Sunday, March 6 at 3 pm. Peter Nero and the Philly Pops perform in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.
Rock music has gone through many changes since it began, but it.s that doo-wop sound of the 1950.s that will make you swoon at this concert. And no one does that better than SHA NA NA.
They appeared at Woodstock in 1969, got their first recording contract that same year, and have since released more than 25 albums with worldwide sales of 20 million. They are now working on their first completely original rock.n.roll and doo-wop CD, One More Saturday Night, for Pat Boone.s Gold Label Records.
When the movie Grease was released in 1979, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, SHA NA NA was cast as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers. The group contributed to the original music score with six versions of rock classics. They also wrote one original song for John Travolta, Sandy, co-written by Screamin. Scott Simon. The accompanying Grease soundtrack album was a huge hit, going platinum eight times and nominated for a Grammy award.
SHA NA NA does more than 100 live performances each year in the USA and across the globe. They also perform with symphony orchestras, and we know Philadelphia will give them a big welcome at their first performance with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops!
Beginning March 2nd, The Kimmel Center will rock .n. roll to a 50.s beat with Jocko, Screamin. Scott, Donny, Reggie, Jim, Paulie and Buzz . the members of SHA NA NA . and Peter Nero and the Philly Pops! Be there!
