Peter Nero to be Music Director for The Philadelphia Freedom Concert with Sir Elton John on July 4th!!
02/10/2005

Peter Nero will be the Music Director for The Philadelphia Freedom Concert, a landmark concert and fundraiser for HIV/AIDS charities this July 4th with Sir Elton John.  The Philly Pops will be there, too, as Peter leads them and other guest artists in what will surely be a fabulous evening in Philadelphia!

"I can think of no better place or day than July 4th in Philadelphia, the birthplace of this great nation, for this concert.  I am honored to be involved, to help free the world of HIV/AIDS and I commend Sir Elton John and the Hirschfeld Fund for their leadership, commitment and efforts in uniting people through music,"  said Peter.

The Philadelphia Freedom Concert will begin at 8:30 on the Parkway in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  The free concert and fireworks display celebrating America's Independence Day will be followed by a gala ball, with tickets from $500 to $2500 per person.  Proceeds will be split between The Elton John AIDS Foundation, which raises international awareness and resources for HIV prevention and care services, and the Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld Fund, which will allocate funds to HIV/AIDS service providers in the Philadelphia region.

Tickets may be purchased and donations made by calling 800-917-4389 or by visiting www.phillyfreedom.net.
