Announces 2004-2005 Season!

With an Extra Night of Holiday POPS!

Five diverse concert series and Holiday POPS! are in store for fans of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for the 2004-2005 season. Always looking to have .a little something for everyone. and every musical taste, Peter has put together a broad variety of themes for the concert series. Each series has four performances, with two evening shows and two matinees.

Only in its fourth year, Holiday POPS! has quickly become a Philadelphia tradition, with sold-out performances for every show. To meet the demand for this festive concert, an additional performance has been added on Tuesday, December 7th, giving POPS fans a total of six Holiday concerts to choose from! Holiday POPS! is a special, non-subscription event.

The season begins October 27th with Fright Night, the music that puts the .horror. in horror flicks. The screeching strings that made you never want to step into a shower stall. Those two notes that had you terrified to swim in the ocean! A wonderfully fun evening of movie music you never forgot!

In February Peter and The POPS will pay tribute to one of America.s greatest songwriters . Harold Arlen . on the 100th anniversary of his birth. Broadway vocalists Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley will sing Get Happy . The Harold Arlen Songbook. They will bring everyone Over The Rainbow with their stylish renditions of this timeless music. And the Voices of The POPS will be there, too. Get Happy, Stormy Weather, Blues in the Night . you know and love them all!

March brings doo-wop, the original rock n. roll music to Pops fans. The music of the baby boomers, with its beautiful harmonies and heartfelt love songs. relive some of your happiest days with POPS at the HOP! Shamma-lama ding-dong!

So many touching songs were written in our country during the 1940.s, and big bands with girl singers performed them all for our troops on USO stages around the world. Stage Door Canteen will bring those beautiful songs and poignant memories back for POPS fans in April.

And that Philly POPS phenomenon . Broadway Showstoppers . returns as the season finale in May. Once again Peter combines Broadway.s most exceptional talent with the magic of the Philly Pops orchestra. This season the vocal artistry of Brent Barrett, Debbie Gravitte, Ron Raines and Rebecca Luker will bring the house down and audiences to their feet!

Brent Barrett appeared as Frank Butler in the Broadway hit Annie Get Your Gun, opposite Reba McEntire. He recently reprised his role of Billy Flynn in Chicago . The Musical on Broadway, after completing his run as King Arthur in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Camelot.

Debbie Gravitte won a Tony Award for her performance in Jerome Robbin.s Broadway, and she was recently back on Broadway in Chicago. Ms. Gravitte has performed her nightclub act worldwide, and she has sung with some of the worlds most acclaimed orchestras.

Fans of the daytime soap The Guiding Light will know Ron Raines as the villain Alan Spaulding. But Mr. Raines is also an accomplished musical theater performer, playing leading roles in virtually every major American musical and operetta on Broadway and at the country.s leading regional theaters. Most recently, he starred as Billy Flynn in the hit musical Chicago.

Rebecca Luker was most recently seen on Broadway in the role of Claudia Nardi in Nine. She appears with symphony orchestras throughout this country and Europe, and has performed leading roles in musicals at many of the nation.s finest regional theaters.

There will be a special Gala concert and dinner to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops� on November 20th at The Crystal Tea Room. Tickets are available now at the POPS office. Please call 215-546-6400 for further information.
