09/12/2006

Festival Chorus performs in Holiday POPS! Concert Series at Kimmel Center

Auditions have been scheduled for the POPS Festival Chorus, which performs with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops in its annual holiday concerts, Holiday POPS!. The chorus performs at 10 holiday concerts December 13, 15-16, and 18-23, 2006, in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center under the direction of Jeffrey Kern, Chorus Director for Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Merriam Theater Building, Room 506, located at 250 South Broad Street. To schedule an audition, call the artistic office of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at 215.893.1904 or e-mail [email protected]. Singers should prepare a 16-measure excerpt of a song in any style and be prepared to sight-sing. All participants must be at least 16 years of age. Singers who have sung with the POPS Festival Chorus in the past must re-audition this year. Rehearsals of the Festival Chorus will be held every Tuesday evening from 7:00-10:00 PM, beginning October 24, at the Chambers-Wiley Church at Broad and Pine Streets.

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops annual crowd-pleasing Holiday POPS! concerts have grown over the years with three additional performances added in 2005 for a total of 10 performances. The concerts are the quintessential holiday treat combining beloved seasonal pops classics, glorious gospel music, and the traditional favorite sing-along.
