Peter Nero and the Philly Pops� announces upcoming auditions for its professional vocal ensemble, the Voices of The POPS, on June 19, 2007, and its volunteer ensemble, the POPS Festival Chorus, on June 26 and 27, 2007 (see further details below). Both ensembles are directed by Jeffrey Kern, chorus director for Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.

The Voices of The POPS is a 12-person mixed voice, professional vocal ensemble that performs in at least one concert series a year with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. Auditions will take place on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Merriam Theater Building, Room 506, located at 250 South Broad Street. Vocalists must be able to sing in a variety of styles including (but not limited to) Broadway, jazz, pops, and classical. Each singer must prepare two songs of varying styles. Songs must be memorized. A piano accompanist will be provided. Excellent sight reading skills are required, and singers are requested to bring a resume and head shot to the audition.
The POPS Festival Chorus is a 125-voice volunteer chorus that joins Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for their Holiday performances. This chorus performs 10 holiday concerts on December 9, 12, 14-16, 19, 21, 22, and 23 (matinee and evening), 2007, in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center under the direction of Peter Nero. Auditions are Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26 and 27, 2007, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the Merriam Theater Building, Room 506, located at 250 South Broad Street. Singers should prepare a 16-measure excerpt from a song, showing off their vocal range. Songs must be memorized. A piano accompanist will be provided. Minimal sight reading skills are required. Resume and headshot are appreciated but not required. This is a volunteer chorus and an unpaid position. Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening, beginning October 15, 2007, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (location TBA).
Peter Nero and the Philly Pops� annual crowd-pleasing Holiday POPS! concerts have grown over the years to a total of 10 performances, with more matinee performances added to the 2007-08 season. From beloved seasonal classics to glorious gospel music, Holiday POPS! is the quintessential holiday treat.
