Peter Nero and the Philly Pops� holds auditions for the POPS Festival Chorus

Chorus will sing beloved holiday classics with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops in repeat performances during the month of December

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops� announces upcoming auditions for its volunteer vocal ensemble, the POPS Festival Chorus, on September 23 and 24. The POPS Festival Chorus is a 125-voice volunteer chorus that joins Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for their annual Holiday POPS! performances. This chorus will perform 10 holiday concerts on December 5-7, 12-14, 17-20, 2008 (matinee and evening), in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center under the direction of Peter Nero.

Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 23 and 24, 2008, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the Merriam Theater Building, Room 506, located at 250 South Broad Street. Singers should prepare a 16-measure excerpt from a song, showing off their vocal range. Selections must be memorized. A piano accompanist will be provided. Minimal sight reading skills are required. Resume and headshot are appreciated but not required. This is a volunteer chorus and an unpaid position. Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening, beginning October 14, 2008, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The POPS Festival Chorus is under the direction of Jeffrey Kern, chorus director for Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.

Participants must be at least 16 years old. Past members of the POPS Festival Chorus do not need to re-audition, and should contact Jeff Kern.
