A Concert of Audience Favorites Starring Peter Nero!

The Peter PrinciPAL series
beginning March 17th in Verizon Hall

Always looking to please his audience, Philly Pops Music Director and Conductor Peter Nero did something no other Philadelphia conductor has he asked them to program a concert with their favorite songs and composers! And to make the evening even more special, Peter Nero will be the featured artist, beguiling the audience with his masterful piano virtuosity.

As part of the celebration of 25 years of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, subscribers were asked to return a card listing their favorite songs, composers and style of music. More than 50% of them did, and the result is the Peter PrinciPAL concert series. Performances begin on Wednesday, March 17 at 8 pm and continue on Friday, March 19 at 8 pm; Saturday, March 20 at 2 pm and Sunday, March 21 at 3 pm. All performances are in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

The winning songs will be revealed on opening night, but you can count on Broadway show tunes, big band jazz and some light classical selections. You may even hear classic rock-n-roll! The POPS audience is a well-rounded musical crowd, with a strong appreciation for all forms of music. And that music will be played to perfection by Peter and the POPS orchestra.

Peter Neros impressive career as a conductor, arranger, composer, pianist and recording artist includes two Grammy Awards. He has received 10 Grammy Award nominations for the 67 albums he has recorded over the past 40 years. Peter accompanies Rod Stewart on the standard Dont Get Around Much Anymore, on his latest album As Time Goes ByThe Great American Songbook: Volume II.

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops is presented by Encore Series, Inc., a non-profit organization enriching the cultural life of Philadelphia through the performing arts. Single tickets are on sale at The Kimmel Center box office, located at Broad and Spruce Streets or charge-by-phone through Ticket Philadelphia at 215-893-1999.
