Peter Nero and the Philly Pops Celebrates 25th Season with Expanded Series and Special Guest Artists!
(Philadelphia PA) Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, one of America's leading pops orchestras, celebrates 25 years of entertaining Philadelphia audiences and begins its third season at Verizon Hall in the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts. By popular demand, a Wednesday evening performance has been added to the series of five concerts and a Wednesday and Monday evening performance has been added to Holiday POPS!
The 25th anniversary season begins in October 2003 and runs through May 2004. There will be a special Gala concert in April celebrating Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and their 25 years of POPS culture.
Two-time Grammy Award winner Peter Nero, POPS conductor, pianist, recording artist, arranger and composer was hailed as "...the epitome of the pops conductor/ performer" by The Washington Post. Symphony Magazine called him "...the Pied Piper of pops concerts." Since its inception in 1979, The POPS has been an integral part of Philadelphia's musical landscape. The 2003-04 season is filled with the exciting, original programming that The POPS produces exclusively for its audiences. As always, Peter Nero's signature stylings on the piano, the beautiful sounds of The POPS orchestra and The Voices of The POPS present a distinctive 25th season. Highlights of the season include The POPS debut of six special guest artists direct from Broadway and the national concert stage � Judy Kuhn, Tom Wopat, Dee Hoty, Sutton Foster, Donna McKechnie and Matt Bogart. Peter Nero and the Philly Pops resident chorus, The Voices of The POPS, will also participate in several concerts.
The complete 2003-04 season includes Hollywood's Great Entertainers, Broadway Showstoppers In Concert, The Peter PrinciPAL, All That Jazz, An American Portrait, Holiday POPS and a 25th Anniversary Gala concert. Peter Nero and the Philly Pops is presented by Encore Series, Inc., a non-profit organization enriching the cultural life of Philadelphia through the performing arts.
