Voices of the POPS and The Philly Pops Festival Brass Perform at Liberty Medal Ceremony July 4th! 06/30/04 July 4th Event at Independence Hall Will Honor Afghan President Hamid Karzai Encore Series, Inc., presenters of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops�, is pleased to announce that two elements of their musical organization will provide the accompaniment for the 2004 Philadelphia Liberty Medal Ceremony on the Fourth of July at Independence Hall. The Voices of the Pops, the resident chorus directed by Jeffrey Kern, will sing God Bless America. Shenandoah and The Battle Hymn of the Republic are also planned for the ceremony. Joining The Voices will be The Philly Pops Festival Brass, comprised of trumpets, trombones, French horns, tuba, timpano and percussion players who perform with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops�. The 15-player ensemble will perform Copeland�s Fanfare for the Common Man, Procession of the Nobles by Rimsky-Korsakov as well as ceremonial brass flourishes. �We�re very honored to be a part of the Liberty Medal Ceremony,� said Chorus Director Jeffrey Kern. �I hope our music will add to the dignity and importance of the event.� # # #
