Time for Three -- Fright Night
Zachary DePue & Nicolas Kendall, violins Ranaan Meyer, double bass

What started as a trio of young string musicians who played together for fun in their spare time has evolved into Time for Three, a charismatic ensemble that draws on its reputation for having limitless enthusiasm and no musical boundaries. Time for Three became affiliated with Astral Artistic Services upon winning its 2003 National Auditions, and in September of that year performed at Paul Newmans Camp Hole In The Wall Fandango XIV. The trio has appeared on FOXs Good Day Philadelphia telecast from the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and their performances have been broadcast on Philadelphias WXPN and WRTI radio stations. Upcoming engagements include performances at the Kimmel Centers Verizon Hall, Philadelphias Mann Music Center, the Cerritos Center in Los Angeles, Joanne Woodwards Westport Playhouse, Rhode Islands Kingston Chamber Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Wyomings Grand Teton Festival, and on Chicagos Music in the Loft series, among many others.

Time for Threes founding members, violinist Zachary DePue and Nicolas Kendall and double bassist Ranaan Meyer, came together while enrolled at the Curtis Institute of Music. Before meeting Ranaan, Zach and Nick had discovered a mutual love of fiddling in the country and western, and bluegrass styles. The three also share an understanding of the musical language of the Hungarian and Spanish gypsies, and a deep understanding of jazz and improvisation.

Violinist Zachary DePue is a native of Bowling Green, Ohio. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, and made his solo debut with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in 1994. Zachery also performed as a soloist with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra in 1995. He graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in 2002, and is now a member of The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Nicolas Kendall joined the roster of Astral Artistic Services as a winner of its year 2000 National Auditions. Astral features him this season on its new Rising Stars series at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Hailing from the Washington, DC area, Nicolas has performed in concert halls around the United States, Europe and in Tokyo, Japan. He debuted with the National Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra as the winner of their Young Artists competitions.

Double bassist Ranaan Meyer is a native of Turnersville, New Jersey and a 2003 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. A regular substitute for The Philadelphia Orchestra, he participated in the Orchestras European tour in May 2004. Ranaan is also an accomplished jazz musician and was recently invited to tour with jazz guitar legend Pat Martino.

Time for Three has become an outlet for these young artists to meet on common ground in a nontraditional blending of their talents. The trios first and self-titled CD was released in October 2002, and a second recording was released in the summer of 2004. Look for the trio in local movie houses as they co-star in an upcoming documentary film about Philadelphias Rittenhouse Square.
