PETER NERO AND THE PHILLY POPS

PRESENTS THE SOUNDTRACKS OF THE SUPERSPIES IN

BOND AND BEYOND APRIL 26, 27, 28

With Special Guest Conductor Michael Krajewski, the Philly POPS Music Director Designate,

and Vocalist Debbie Gravitte

** Plus the Philadelphia Premier of Concerto for Cell Phone **

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 1, 2013) The soundtracks of the superspies -- from the brand-new Sky Fall to the hits of the swingin 60s like Secret Agent Man -- will sizzle from the stage when The Philly POPS Music Director Designate Michael Krajewski will guest conduct Peter Nero and the Philly POPS in a program called Bond And Beyond. Powerful vocalist Debbie Gravitte will add her own Midas touch to Goldfinger and other memorable themes including You Only Live Twice. The three shows will take place on Friday, April 26 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 27and Sunday, Sunday April 28 at 3 p.m.at Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 S Broad St Philadelphia, PA 19102. And since ingenious gadgets have always been part of the spys tool kit, Maestro Krajewski will dial up the Philadelphia premier of the Concerto for Cell Phone.

With mood music from Bond films and screen hits as diverse as Austin Powers,Mission Impossible and The Pink Panther, the program of Bond and Beyond will draw in audiences with iconic themes that permeated pop-culture. Movies and TV have given us some of the most exciting new orchestral music of the last fifty years, explained Krajewski, who will succeed founding conductor Peter Nero beginning next October. Its hard to imagine the impact of the Bond movies without the suspenseful soundtracks and sexy arrangements. Composers like John Barry, Henry Mancini and Quincy Jones created themes that also stand the test of time off-screen. These are pieces that will really show off the superb talents of the Philly POPS musicians.

Beyond conducting, Krajewskis special talents include his love for developing other creative artists to bring new repertoire to POPS audiences. Krajewski was the one who encouraged the composer James M. Stephenson to create Concerto for Cell Phone, which plays the ringtones in hand-held gadgets against an orchestral background. Like Peter Nero, I enjoy making the experience of POPS concerts fun. I love developing new ideas that lead to conversations at home, after people leave the theater.

Krajewski is currently the principal pops conductor of the Atlanta, Houston, and Jacksonville Symphony Orchestras. He has recorded two albums with the Houston Symphony and has collaborated with such artists as flutist James Galway, Roberta Flack, Art Garfunkel and mezzo Marilyn Horne.

Single tickets are now currently for sale for Bond and Beyond, one of two remaining programs in the 2012/2013 Season in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center of the Performing Arts Tickets can be purchased through www.phillypops.org or by phone at 215-893-1999. Founding conductor and music director Nero will close out the 34th Annual Season in The Kimmel Center with Super POPS Broadway in May 2013 and is expected to conduct the annual July 3rd POPS concert at Independence Hall.
