PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 20, 2013) � Peter Nero, one of America�s most beloved conductors, will strike up the band in front of America�s most historic site, Independence Hall, when Peter Nero and the Philly POPS� entertain the thousands of visitors who will gravitate to Historic Philadelphia for the 2013 Wawa Welcome America! festivities. The FREE, open-air concert will take place on the lawn at 5th and Market streets on Wednesday, July 3 at 8 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and experience a world class POPS orchestra play a rousing set of familiar patriotic tunes to launch the holiday.
Highlights of this all-American patriotic-themed concert include the performance of the �1812 Overture� and excerpts from the Declaration of Independence as read by Bill Barker, Philadelphia�s own Thomas Jefferson.
